Come celebrate the holidays with good friends, good food, and books!
Bring an appetizer to share and a book or two from your library for the book exchange.
To celebrate the holidays the South Orange County Women's Book Club will be collecting children's books. One of our book club members, Amy C, is a librarian at Remington Elementary School in Santa Ana. At a meeting last year Amy shared that her school doesn't have the budget to update the books in the library. Unfortunately she doesn't have many of the popular titles that the students come in and request.
Remington Elementary serves Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Most of the students are English Learners and "emerging" readers. Picture books and beginning chapter books would be appropriate for the largest portion of her students. Amy says that the students are particularly interested in scary stories and mysteries. The students would be really excited to have access to books in the following series:
Geronimo Stilton
The Magic Tree House
The Boxcar Children
Cam Jansen
Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew
A to Z Mysteries
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Please bring you donation of new or "gently used" books to our holiday celebration. If you are unable to attend the holiday party, books can also be brought to the December 1 book discussion.
